New Hampshire Retired Educator Association Irene W. Hart Award

Irene W. Hart Memorial Award

The Irene W. Hart Memorial Award is named for a dedicated Concord, NH High School English teacher who died in 1995 at the age of 98. Ms. Hart was instrumental in the initiation of programs which improved the equity of salaries for teachers and provided improved retirement benefits for them. Her efforts were responsible for the alliance between state teacher pensions and the Federal Social Security System. She devoted many years to educational causes, and served her profession as a leader on many state and local levels.
